You have seen the ads. The sleek green logos from legacy banks promise a sustainable, carbon-neutral future. They paint a pretty picture.
But we always say: Don´t trust, Verify!
That’s the mission behind our latest piece, "The Greenwashed Banker," which just went live on the streets of Berlin. We placed this message right where it belongs: on the window of a traditional bank, next to the very ATM that dispenses the paper promises of a broken system.
The Signal: What You See vs. What They Fund
At first glance, you see the performance: a classic banker in a top hat, proudly holding a sign that says "GREEN." It’s the story they want you to believe.
But the truth is in the details. Look into the reflection in his glasses. Those aren't green fields. Those are smokestacks.
This piece is our signal flare against greenwashing. It’s a term for the corporate illusion of environmental responsibility. Banks are masters of this. They publish glossy reports on their "carbon footprint," but they conveniently leave out the most important part: their “financed emissions.”
That’s the polite term for all the polluting, carbon-heavy industries they fund with your money. It's the ultimate hypocrisy—claiming to be vegan while owning the slaughterhouse. Their marketing department promises a clean future while their investment arm funds the past.
The Download: Transparency is the Only Fix
The Greenwashed Banker isn’t just an artwork; it’s a challenge. It asks a simple question: why should we trust a system that isn't transparent?
Their system runs on promises you can't verify and ledgers you can't see. Our ethos is the opposite. We believe in open-source truth and verifiable code. We believe that for a system to be fair, it must be transparent to everyone, not just the people at the top.
This is our proof-of-work. Now it's your turn.
